Does fitting a towbar increase how much my vehicle can tow?
No. A higher-rated towbar does not increase your vehicle's towing capacity. The vehicle manufacturer sets that limit, and your setup must also stay within the rated capacity of the towbar and other towing components. Where the limits differ, the lowest rating applies.
Do I need vehicle-specific wiring when fitting a towbar?
It depends on the vehicle. Many modern vehicles have complex electrical systems and need a vehicle-specific wiring solution rather than a basic universal connection. With Hayman Reese, you don't need to work it out yourself. Your price includes the towbar, the required wiring and equipment for your vehicle and professional fitting by one of our installers.
Can I install a Hayman Reese towbar myself?
Hayman Reese towbars are fitted through our trained installer network. Your installer fits the towbar to your vehicle's mounting points and the correct specification, connects the appropriate wiring and completes the installation in one booking. You don't need the tools or workshop to do it yourself, and your fitting is covered by our installer warranty.
How much does a Hayman Reese towbar cost?

Do I need a different towbar for a bike rack than for towing a trailer or caravan?
Not always, but compatibility matters. For a bike rack, check the combined weight of the rack and bikes against your vehicle and towbar's maximum vertical load, and make sure your number plate and lights remain visible. For a trailer or caravan, check the vehicle and towbar towing limits, safety-chain requirements, wiring and any braking requirements.
